Respect “We know we need a lot of things: people to love us, to care for us, to be interested in us, to think we are important, and people to love us. But what we need more than love is respect. Fr. Paul – Sept. 5, 2007.

There is no way that everyone can love us. People have their own lives. They have business to take care of. They are out shopping in the grocery store. Someone bumps into us or steps in front of us in line. That hurts us. We are sensitive. God put that in us.

When people laugh at us or make fun of us we can be easily hurt. We do not expect everyone to love us. They cannot. They do not know us. They do not associate with us. But if people treat us as if we are nothing and do not show us respect we are hurt. That is in all of us.

My commitment today is to treat everyone I meet or speak to with respect!

Featured Testimonial

Not only did the people at Brentwood change my son, but they changed me as a mother. It allowed me to develop an amazing relationship with my son. When we found Brentwood, I was as much in need of help as my son was. I could not have done this journey without help. Without Brentwood’s help!

By coming to Family Support meetings with an open heart, I found a support system like no others. Brentwood staff have continued to work with my son in his Recovery while I worked my own program. This has allowed us to celebrate and grow in recovery as a family. I will be forever grateful to Brentwood!
