Purpose and Meaning - “The whole meaning and purpose of life will be changed for us when we come to a place like this!” Fr. Paul – Dec. 30, 2008.

There is a world of difference between alcoholics and non-alcoholics as to the meaning and purpose of life. As alcoholics we lived in fantasy and daydreams. Our whole meaning and purpose was to deceive ourselves, deceive others, and to make sure that no one knew that our lives were controlled by fear and insecurities, and we had to hide all that. We became mean people full of anger, frustration, hates, bitterness, resentments and self-pity. Our hearts were closed, our minds were closed and we turned into angry mean people.

In recovery every day can have a new meaning and a new purpose because there can be new responsibilities, especially with the people that God puts in our lives day by day. God’s will for us is to enjoy life and have a meaningful life lived to the fullest.

My commitment today is to live my life to the fullest in recovery!

Featured Testimonial

Not only did the people at Brentwood change my son, but they changed me as a mother. It allowed me to develop an amazing relationship with my son. When we found Brentwood, I was as much in need of help as my son was. I could not have done this journey without help. Without Brentwood’s help!

By coming to Family Support meetings with an open heart, I found a support system like no others. Brentwood staff have continued to work with my son in his Recovery while I worked my own program. This has allowed us to celebrate and grow in recovery as a family. I will be forever grateful to Brentwood!
