Daily reading for December 04 from “As If I Was In Your Office…”

The Lord’s Prayer “Thy Will be done” Fr. Paul –June 24, 2008.

We were just into ourselves to protect ourselves. It was my will and my way. “I am the boss. It is my business. Just leave me alone.” There was no way that we could be accountable to anyone because the disease of alcoholism is me, my time, my money, my way. There was no way that we wanted people to question us or to answer to anybody. The disease of alcoholism is our self-will, our ego, our hates, our resentments, and I do not have to be accountable to anyone.

So when we come to a place like this we have to get to the core of the disease! You have to answer to us, the group leaders, and the fellowship. They will challenge your denial and self-will and you have to be accountable to others about the way you think and live. You have to submit and surrender your will, your ways, and your ideas. Things do not happen in my time.

My commitment today is not in my time, in God’s time!

Not only did the people at Brentwood change my son, but they changed me as a mother. It allowed me to develop an amazing relationship with my son. When we found Brentwood, I was as much in need of help as my son was. I could not have done this journey without help. Without Brentwood’s help!

By coming to Family Support meetings with an open heart, I found a support system like no others. Brentwood staff have continued to work with my son in his Recovery while I worked my own program. This has allowed us to celebrate and grow in recovery as a family. I will be forever grateful to Brentwood!
